Harrisburg, PA : Car spins out, causes head-on crash on Rt. 512 on Thursday, December 8th, 2016
Route 512 in Hanover Township, Northampton County, was temporarily shut down after a head-on crash just before 11 a.m. Thursday, south of the Route 22 interchange, authorities said.
The driver of a southbound white Nissan was going "at a high rate of speed" and passing other vehicles before losing control and spinning out, a Colonial Regional police sergeant said, relaying witness accounts.
The driver crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with a Ford on the four-lane Bierys Bridge just north of Bethlehem, the sergeant said.
Both drivers were taken to the hospital, but the Nissan driver's injuries were more severe, the sergeant said.
Two ambulances pulled away at 11:15 a.m. and traffic was allowed to go south in the far right lane, according to a Pennsylvania Department of Transportation camera.
The road was reopened by 12:10 p.m.
