Providence ,RI :Wrong-way driver killed after hitting 2 vehicles in I-95 on early Saturday morning , August 22nd 2015
Rhode Island state police say a man going the wrong way on Interstate 95 in Providence has been killed after colliding with two other vehicles.
Police say the crash happened near Exit 20 on the northbound side of the highway near the Providence Place Mall at about 4:30 a.m. Saturday. Police said they had received reports of a wrong-way driver just before the crash.
Police identified the man as 26-year-old Armando Gomes of North Providence, who got on the freeway from Providence Place Way. They said he hit the first vehicle head-on in the high speed lane, and then struck a second car.
A person who had to be removed from a minivan Gomes struck has serious injuries. No one was hurt in the other car.
