Germantown ,WI :Police search for driver in crash involving stolen vehicle on Sunday ,July 5th 2015

Germantown police are investigating a crime spree that involves stolen cars, a crash and guns pulled on innocent people trying to help.

According to the department's Facebook page, a two-vehicle crash was called in around 10:50 a.m. near Highway 145 and Division Road.

Witnesses told police that a white minivan and black cargo van collided near the intersection. They said that after the crash two vehicles that were ahead of the collision turned around and drove up to the scene.

Police said that the drivers, described as younger black men, attempted to move the minivan's driver from his vehicle.

When witnesses told the men to stop, fearing the driver could be injured, one of the men showed a handgun and told them not to interfere.

"One of the actors became very agitated when this witness came up, did display a handgun and made it known that they were not to interfere,” Germantown police Capt. Mike Snow said.

The two men reportedly took the minivan driver into a Ford pickup and left the scene.

Germantown police said the Ford pickup was reported stolen, and was found abandoned near Highway 145 and Pilgrim Road. Police said the men entered a green compact car and led an officer on a chase into the city of Mequon.
