SARASOTA COUNTY, FL : Driver dies in crash on U.S. 41 in Sarasota County on Wednesday, 1st January, 2020

The driver of a 2004 Chevy Impala died Wednesday morning in a single-car crash on U.S. 41.

The Florida Highway Patrol said that the driver, who has not been identified pending notification of family, was driving north on U.S. 41 south of Bay Street when they lost control of their car.

The Chevy went over a curved median and crossed all of the southbound lanes of U.S. 41 before colliding with a traffic control signal pole on the southwest corner of the intersection of Bay Street.

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
