Norwalk, OH : Francisco Martinez, 45, suffers serious injuries in alcohol-related crash on Saturday afternoon, November 15, 2014

A North Fairfield man sustained substantial injuries after he and another driver, suspected of driving drunk, were involved in a serious crash Saturday afternoon. An Ohio State Highway Patrol report indicates Francisco Martinez, 45, was taken by a medical helicopter to a Cleveland hospital with incapacitating injuries. Nurses at Cleveland Metro would not provide a status update on Martinez's condition late Sunday. The extent of his injuries are also not known at this time. The incident happened shortly after 4:30 p.m., when Martinez, driving southbound on Whittlesey Avenue north of Lais Road, slammed into a car driven by Collins resident Stephen Hahn. Hahn was turning left into a private drive. Troopers charged Hahn with operating a vehicle under the influence and failure to yield right of way. Further charges are pending.
