Knoxville, TN : Four people killed in a single-car crash in Sneedville early Saturday morning, February 25, 2017
Four people were killed in a single-car crash early Saturday morning in Sneedville, Tenn.
All four had been drinking alcohol, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred on Trent Chapel Road just after midnight when the driver of a Dodge SQ2, traveling south, lost control. The vehicle slid off the road and struck a tree head-on, according to a THP preliminary report.
The driver, who was killed in the wreck, was identified as Tyler E. Bell, 20, of Sneedville, Tenn. Three passengers were killed. They were identified as Megan N. Mullins, 22, of Sneedville, Tenn., Billie Krysta Johnson, 18, of Blackwater, Va., and Eric J. Mosley, 22, of Bean Station, Tenn.
The driver and one passenger were ejected from the vehicle when it hit the tree, according to the report. Two others had to be extricated from the vehicle, according to THP.
According to the report, everyone in the car had been drinking.
No one was wearing a seat belt.
Trooper Rex Bailey said in the report that his opinion is restraints would not have made a difference.
The investigation into the wreck continues, according to THP.
