A Jonesboro man was airlifted following a crash late Sunday night in Missouri.
Johnnie Carruth, 60, was seriously injured in crash in Perry County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Carruth was driving a Peterbilt tractor-trailer south on Missouri Route 51 when a Honda Accord pulled out of a private driveway into his path.
Carruth reportedly swerved to the left to avoid the car, but the front of the truck hit the front left of the car, MSHP stated. The Accord went off the west side of the road.
The tractor-trailer continued south in the northbound lane of Route 51 and struck a Kenworth tractor trailer head on, according to the investigating trooper.
Then Carruth's truck crossed back into the southbound lanes, traveled off the west side of the road, down an embankment and hit a parked Pontiac Grand Am in a parking lot. No one was in the car at the time.
Carruth was airlifted to a St. Louis hospital in serious condition. No one else was injured and all those involved were wearing seat belts according to MSHP.
