Phoenix, AZ : U-Haul truck sideswiped vehicle; left crash scene on Thursday afternoon, September 11, 2014

Department of Public Safety officials say a 14 foot U-Haul truck sideswiped a Toyota Tundra pickup truck Thursday afternoon in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 just after the 12th Street bridge. The westbound lanes of I-10 were shut down from 16th Street all the way through the tunnel. It was the result of a serious hit and run crash that sent several people to area hospitals. After the Toyota was hit, it collided with a car that went over the median and right into oncoming traffic. That's when it slammed head-on into another pickup truck. A woman in the car suffered a broken leg and broken arm. DPS says the driver of the U-Haul truck fled the scene and hasn't been found.
