WORCESTER, MA : Four people were hurt in a serious crash on May, Tuesday 9th 2017

At least four people were hurt in a serious crash Tuesday night on Belmont Street, according to police.

They were all taken by ambulance to UMass Memorial Medical Center - University Campus. Belmont Street was closed through the evening near Skyline Drive while the police Crash Reconstruction Unit investigated.

The crash occurred around 8:30 p.m. at Belmont and Skyline. It appeared to involve a Nissan XTerra sport utility vehicle and a sedan. The SUV rested near the left-hand turn lane of the eastbound lane of Belmont Street, with heavy damage to the front driver’s side.

The sedan appeared to have crashed into and partially uprooted a large electrical box just past the intersection on the westbound side of the road. Debris littered the roadway. The sedan sustained heavier damage to its front and driver’s side.

Several onlookers said they didn’t see what happened. The only traffic allowed to pass through the crash site came from an event being held at Worcester Technical High School.
