Houston,TX : Man charged in wrong-way fatal Houston crash on June, Sunday 11th 2017
A 51-year-old Houston man has been charged with intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault for a weekend wrong-way traffic crash that killed a Houston high school coach.
Gerardo Gonzalez Luna's pickup truck was travelling the wrong way on a Houston freeway without lights early Sunday when it slammed head-on into a car, killing Houston Heights High School coach Adrian Byrd and severely injuring Byrd's wife.
Harris County authorities say initial toxicology tests showed Luna had with a blood-alcohol level more than three times the legal limit of 0.08 percent. Open alcohol containers also were found in Luna's truck.
Byrd and his were returning home from a wedding when the crash happened.
