Beaumont, TX : Kirbyville man dies following weekend car crash on September 2 2016
Kirbyville resident James Steven Dominy, 41, died as the result of injuries he sustained in a one-vehicle accident in Jasper County on Sept. 3, reports Texas Department of Public Safety Sgt. Stephanie Davis. Dominy was not wearing his seatbelt, stated Davis in a news release.
According to information from DPS, they received a report of a one-vehicle crash on U.S. 96 near Call Junction in Jasper County at about 9 p.m. Troopers learned that a Ford pickup truck was traveling southbound on U.S. 96. when, for an unknown reason, the driver, identified as Dominy, drove off the roadway to the right. In an attempt to get the vehicle back onto the road, he apparently overcorrected, reports DPS, causing the vehicle to rollover over several times before coming to rest in the roadway. Dominy was not secured by a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle.
Dominy was transported by medical helicopter to St. Elizabeth hospital with serious head injuries. He died at the hospital the afternoon following the accident.
This is an ongoing crash investigation as troopers work to determine the exact factors that contributed to this crash, stated Davis.
