Owasso, OK : Woman in critical condition following three-car crash on U.S. 169 in Owasso on Friday, April 8, 2016

A woman was left in critical condition after a three-car chain-reaction pileup Friday on U.S. 169 in Owasso.

The highway's southbound traffic was already reduced to one lane because of construction near 56th Street North, Owasso Police Lt. Nick Boatman said.

Just before 2:30 p.m., a Lexus rear-ended a Cadillac Escalade that had been stopped because of traffic congestion near 76th Street North, two miles north of the construction, Boatman said.
A Chevrolet pickup then crashed into the Lexus ahead of it, smashing the car between the two vehicles, Boatman said.

The 47-year-old woman who was driving the Lexus was critically injured, Boatman said. Her name was not immediately available.

The drivers of the other two vehicles were treated at the scene for minor injuries, Boatman said. He was unsure whether the people involved had been wearing seat belts.

Southbound traffic on U.S. 169 was stalled for nearly two hours while crews worked at the crash scene. Traffic flow resumed about 4 p.m.
