Johnson County, IA: Driver airlifted after crash near North Liberty on Saturday, July 25th 2015
One person went to the hospital after a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 380 on Saturday. The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office responded to the northbound lanes of the interstate just after 9:15 a.m. for the report of a van that crashed.According to the Sheriff’s office, the driver of the van was ejected from the vehicle near the Forevergreen Road overpass and was pinned under the vehicle. The driver was the only occupant in the van at the time of the crash.AirCare landed on I-380, closing off traffic in both northbound lanes shortly after the crash. The driver of the van was extricated from the wreck and airlifted to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. As of 11:40 a.m., traffic was still reduced to one lane between U.S. Highway 6 and Penn Street in North Liberty.Authorities have not released the victim’s name or condition. The Iowa State Patrol and North Liberty Fire Department assisted the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office at the scene.
