DARIEN, WI : A Janesville man was driving eastbound on Hwy11/14 on Saturday, July 29, 2017

A Janesville man was driving eastbound on Hwy11/14 when he fatally struck a semi on Saturday afternoon.

According to the Walworth County Sheriff's Office, Ryan Andrew Phetteplace, 46, was driving a 2008 black Subaru Impreza when he went into the westbound lane and struck a semi head-on. Phetteplace was the only occupant in the vehicle.

Phetteplace was pronounced dead by a coroner at the Walworth County Medical Examiner's Office. He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The semi was driven by Dennis Bennington, 55, from Coon Rapids, Minnesota. He was alone in the semi and was not injured.

The crash is under investigation by the Walworth County Sheriff's Office Crash Investigation Unit and the Walworth County Medical Examiner's Office.
