Two girls from Avilla were injured in a single-vehicle accident at 5:57 p.m. Sunday on Juniper Road, a mile north of Carthage in Jasper County, according to the Missouri State Highway patrol.

Jaden P. Green, 14, was taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital Joplin with minor injuries, the state patrol said. Alyessa C. Reed, 5, was flown by medical helicopter to Mercy Hospital Springfield with moderate injuries, the patrol said.

They were passengers in an eastbound pickup truck driven by Brandy K. Ritchie, 37, of Avilla, that ran off the road and struck a fence, the patrol said.
