Mentone, IN : One teenager dead and another seriously injured in crash on Wednesday morning August 9th 2015

A teenager is dead and another is in serious condition after a crash in Mentone Wednesday morning.
The Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department responded to a crash on County Road 500 South east of Indiana 19 in rural Kosciusko County, police said.
Both drivers were found near the car.The passenger, Cole Allen Dowd, 19, from Mentone, was taken to Lutheran Hospital in serious condition. The driver, Jordan Anthony Shafter, 18, of Rochester, died from blunt force trauma injuries he received after being thrown from the car, Kosciusko County Coroner Michael Wilson said.
Police believe Shafter was driving east on County Road 500 South when the car went off the south edge of the road, causing him to lose control. The car rolled on the gravel road, throwing Shafter about 40-feet into a tree-line.
