Both are from Cambria and have the same last name. The driver was alive, alert and talking as rescue crews arrived. He was placed on a backboard and hoisted up to the highway by a CHP helicopter, then transferred to an ambulance and taken to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center in San Luis Obispo. The extent of his injuries is unknown."(Firefighters) searched the vehicle and they looked through it and there was no sign of alcohol or any kind of drugs," said CHP Officer Philip Knox. "When I talked to the driver, he was not under the influence. He is a young man, he has a clean record. I already checked him. To me, this is something that is very tragic."
