Gaston County, N.C : Fire truck hits, kills pedestrian in Gaston County on Lowell Road near East Street on Thursday evening, November 6, 2014

One person is dead after being struck by a firetruck in Gaston County Thursday evening. The incident happened on Lowell Road near East Street around 6 p.m. and involved a firetruck from Station 19, Ranlo Fire and Rescue. Officials at the scene say that the victim walked in front of the truck as it was returning from a house fire. They say the truck was going the speed limit and did not have its emergency lights or siren on. Investigators say the victim, who they have only identified as a male, was intoxicated at the time of the incident. The driver of the truck will not be charged.
