One person was killed and another hurt when a tractor-trailer hit a toll plaza on Interstate 70 early Saturday morning.

The crash happened about 3 a.m. at the Kansas Turnpike's eastern terminal.

The Kansas Turnpike Authority said the big rig was westbound on the highway and hit the toll booths at highway speed.

One person in the truck died, and a second person in the truck was rushed to a hospital.

No KTA workers were hurt. Authorities said the toll plaza was not manned when the accident happened.

The crash is under investigation.
