Tucson, AZ : Car crashes while fleeing from Border Patrol, killing 2 and injuring 3 others on Wednesday, 29th January, 2020

A car fleeing from Border Patrol officers crashed Wednesday outside of Tucson, killing two people and seriously injuring three others, police said.

The 17-year-old driver of the car was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder, aggravated assault, criminal damage, unlawful flight from police and DUI, according to Pima County Sheriff's Department.

The incident was an alleged attempt at human smuggling caused by a “smuggler who showed no regard for human life,” according to a statement from Tucson Sector Border Patrol.

Border Patrol officers tried to pull over a car that was driving "suspiciously" around 4:30 p.m. near milepost 3 on Arivaca-Sasabe Road.
