SPRINGFIELD, IL : Male suffers serious injuries in Springfield motorcycle crash on Wednesday, 4th September 2019

A motorcyclist, thrown from his bike after he struck a utility pole on State Street Wednesday afternoon, was taken to Baystate Medical Center with serious injuries, police said.

The crash occurred near Ionia Street at about 3:45 p.m., Ryan Walsh, spokesman for Springfield police, said. The department’s traffic unit continues to investigate.

Walsh said the victim, who remains at Baystate, was hearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
