Lebanon , PA: 40-year-old Tonya Thompson killed in Two Vehicle Crash at Airport Road near Denny School Road on Thursday ,April 9 2015
A 40-year-old Lebanon woman, Tonya Thompson, was killed about 7:05 p.m. Thursday in a two-vehicle crash at Airport Road near Denny School Road west of Lebanon, according to Linn County Undersheriff Jim Yon.
Thompson was the lone occupant in a 1999 Subaru Outback and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver and single occupant of the 2005 Mitsubishi four-door was a 17-year-old female from Albany. Kathryn Schilz was listed Friday in stable condition at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis.
The investigation indicated Schilz's vehicle had been traveling west on Airport Road when her vehicle crossed into the opposing lane of travel. Her vehicle then collided head on with Thompson's vehicle.
Thompson's vehicle was found off the roadway in the south ditch of Airport Road lying on its side. Thompson was found deceased by Lebanon firefighter/medic personnel in her vehicle.
Schilz's vehicle was located in the westbound lane of travel, facing south.
Lebanon Fire Department personnel extricated her from her vehicle, and she was then flown by REACH air ambulance to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis. She suffered serious injuries from the crash, but they do not appear to be life-threatening.
It is unknown at this time if alcohol was a factor in the crash. Both drivers were using seatbelts.
Linn County deputies were assisted by members of the Lebanon Fire Department, Linn County Road Department and the Linn County Multi Agency Investigation Team. MAIT members include the Oregon State Police, Lebanon Police Department and Albany Police Department.
Airport Road was closed for more than three hours and re-opened around 11 p.m.
