SUMTER, SC : Man charged with felony DUI for deadly crash in Sumter on Saturday, March 25th 2017

One man is dead and another behind bars following a car crash in Sumter over the weekend.

44-year-old Michael Demore is charged with felony driving under the influence resulting in death for the crash Saturday night on Broad Street.

Investigators say a Nissan Sentra and a Yukon hit nearly head-on after the Yukon turned onto Broad Street from Mason Road in the wrong direction. Police say Demore was driving the Yukon.

The front seat passenger of the Nissan died at the scene. The coroner has not yet released the victim's name.

The driver was treated and released. Demore was taken to the hospital before taken to the Sumter-Lee Regional Detention Center.

The Sumter Police Department is investigating with the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
