Beckley, W.V : Four people injured after head-on crash in Sophia on Thursday afternoon, August 18, 2016

Four adults were transported to an area hospital Thursday afternoon after a two-vehicle collision on Sophia’s Main Street.

A woman was trapped during the collision, according to Capt. Scott Thomas of the Sophia City Fire Department.

“They were pretty banged up,” he said, describing the crash victims.

Thomas said a truck and a car were traveling in opposite directions on East Main Street near the local feed store when they collided around 5 p.m.

The car ran over a gas line during the accident, which caused a portion of East Main Street to be shut down for approximately an hour while the utility company made repairs, said Thomas.

The accident is still under investigation by local police.
