Jacksonville, FL : Fatal crash involving car fire closes all lanes of I-95 southbound on Friday, 21st June 2019

Two lanes of I-95 southbound have reopened at Old St. Augustine Road after a fiery crash left two people dead on Friday morning.

All four lanes were closed for hours as the Florida Highway Patrol worked to clear the crash scene. Now, two lanes are open and two remain closed.

Troopers say that Mary Russ, 23, died in the crash. The name of the other person who died has not yet been released.According to FHP, Russ was driving the wrong way on Interstate 95 when she collided with another vehicle around 3 a.m.

Upon impact, the other vehicle became instantly engulfed in flames.

At this time, inside and left center lanes are open for southbound I-95 traffic and the right center and outside lanes are closed for pavement repair.
