New York, NY : Two public vehicles involved in crashes two blocks apart on Thursday, 7th February 2019

It was a rough night for public vehicles Thursday.

A Eugene Springfield Fire medic unit and Lane Transit District bus were both struck by vehicles in separate collisions on West Sixth Avenue that occurred two blocks and roughly a half-hour apart.

A total of three people were taken the hospital as a precautionary measure, officials said.

Shortly after 7 p.m., the medic unit was traveling northbound on Chambers Street, responding with its lights and sirens to an earlier crash near the Eugene Mission, when it was struck in the intersection by a vehicle heading westbound on West Sixth, officials said.

Two patients in the vehicle were transported to the hospital. The paramedics were uninjured.

Then, around 7:40 p.m,. the LTD bus was traveling in the leftmost, bus-only lane on West Sixth when a vehicle in the next lane over turned left near the McDonald’s restaurant. The bus collided with the driver side door near Garfield Street.
