COLONIE, NY : Former Bishop Maginn football player dies in crash on Thursday, March 16th 2017
A former Bishop Maginn High School football player died Thursday night after losing control of his car on Central Avenue and striking a telephone pole, police and school officials said.
Ja'Juan Williams, 21, of Albany, was driving east on Central when his car went off the right side of the road, hit a snowbank, became airborne and struck the pole, police said. No one else was in the vehicle.
The Colonie Police Traffic Safety Unit is doing a reconstruction of the crash. Preliminary investigation shows speed may have been a factor. The investigation was ongoing Friday. Police have asked that anyone who witnessed the crash call 783-2744.
Williams was a 2013 graduate of Bishop Maginn and was a member of the football team, the school said on its Facebook page. His younger sister is a senior at the school.
"Ja'Juan was that student who was known and loved by all," the post states. "He had an infectious smile that could light up a room, He was always there to help, to love and be loved."
