Raleigh, NC : Multiple-vehicle crash on Tuesday morning created traffic backups on I-540 westbound on August 26th 2014

Highway Patrol was investigating a crash involving multiple vehicles on Interstate 540 in Wake County Tuesday morning. The crash happened around 7:23 a.m. Tuesday near Ray Road. Two of the three westbound lanes of I-540 were blocked between Capital Boulevard and Leesville Road. Highway Patrol did not release how many vehicles were involved. Troopers also did not say anything about injuries. Drivers were being encouraged to use NC 50 South to US 70 West and Glenwood Avenue to I-540.
