Chicago, IL : Sears man killed in car/pedestrian accident on Sunday August 9th 2014.
A 36-year-old man from Sears was killed after being struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Pickard and Adams streets Sunday.
The driver, an 86-year-old man from Six Lakes, was heading westbound on Pickard Street when he struck the pedestrian as he crossed northbound on Pickard near Adams Street. According to the Mount Pleasant Police Department, a witness on-scene said the pedestrian never looked for traffic before crossing the street and walked out directly in front of the vehicle.
Jeff Browne, MPPD public information officer, said the man was struck in the hip area and also suffered a head injury which ultimately killed him. The pedestrian was nearly hit by another vehicle a few seconds prior to the accident.
