Oakland County, MI : 24-year-old Ortonville man dead in a single car crash in Bloomfield Township on Sunday, May 15, 2016

A 24-year-old Ortonville man is dead following a single car crash over the weekend in Bloomfield Township, police report.

The victim was identified at Travis Walls.

On Tuesday, Bloomfield Township police reported that alcohol consumption was a factor in the crash.

Local police and firefighters were called at 9:52 p.m. on Sunday, May 15, to the area of Long Lake and Telegraph roads to investigate the accident.

According to investigators, a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee driving eastbound on Long Lake Road drove off the roadway and hit a tree.

Walls, the 24-year-old from Ortonville, the driver, and his passenger, a 22-year-old woman from West Bloomfield, were sent to a local hospital.

The driver was pronounced dead at the hospital. The man’s passenger was last listed in stable condition, authorities report.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation by Bloomfield Township Traffic Investigations Unit officers.

Besides alcohol, investigators also reported high speeds appeared to be another factor in the crash.
