Salt Lake City, UT : Man in critical condition after freeway crash in Salt Lake City on Monday, 3rd October 2016
A 19-year-old man was in critical condition after a single-vehicle crash in Salt Lake City late Monday afternoon.
The man was traveling south on Interstate 215 near 1600 South about 2:45 p.m., according to a Utah Highway Patrol news release. The man was driving recklessly, witnesses told police, at about 90 mph.
When the man attempted to merge lanes in anticipation of a lane closure, the release states, he lost control of the sedan he was driving. The car spun 180 degrees before striking an electronic construction sign on the driver side.
The car was damaged heavily, and the driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
