Smyrna, TN : Driver wanted in fatal hit-and-run crash near South Lowry Street on Sunday, July 10, 2016
Police are looking for the driver who hit and killed a woman riding a scooter in Smyrna.
The wreck happened near South Lowry Street at the Nissan Boulevard overpass just before 11 p.m. Sunday.
According to police, the scooter was hit from behind by a pickup truck.
The victim, 29-year-old Elise Denton, was knocked off the scooter and hit by another vehicle.
The truck dragged the scooter for about a quarter of a mile before hitting an embankment.
The driver then reportedly removed the scooter from the truck and left the scene.
Denton died shortly after arriving at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Police said the suspect is most likely a woman with dark hair. Witnesses said she was wearing a white tank top with black shorts.
The suspect's vehicle is described as a dark gray or pewter colored Chevrolet or GMC pickup truck. It has damage to its front end and will be missing a headlight on the driver's side.
