Odessa, TX : 18-year-old woman in fair condition following collision on Eighth Street on Friday, January 27, 2017

The 18-year-old Odessa woman who suffered critical injuries in a two-vehicle collision on Eighth Street was listed Saturday in fair condition.
Izria Alvarez was initially taken Friday to Medical Center Hospital where she was reportedly treated for what Odessa Police Department spokesman Cpl. Steve LeSueur said were life threatening injuries. But MCH spokeswoman Rhonda Lewallen said Alvarez’s condition had improved.
Alvarez reportedly failed to the yield the right-of-way to a 2010 Ford van driven by Pamela Handlon, 40, of Odessa, who was heading east on Eighth Street. Alvarez was traveling north on Hillcrest Avenue in a 1998 Chevrolet pickup when the van collided with Alvarez’s truck, the OPD said.
Handlon was taken to Medical Center Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
