Lincoln, NE : Cedar Rapids man 36 dies in crash on Wednesday, June 21, 2017

A 36-year-old Cedar Rapids, Nebraska, man died Wednesday west of Columbus after his vehicle struck a railing and rolled.

Robert Clifford died in the crash, according to the Platte County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash occurred about 2 p.m. about a half-mile north of Monroe on 370th Avenue. Monroe is about 12 miles west of Columbus.

The Sheriff’s Office said a 2001 Pontiac Bonneville driven by Clifford was southbound on 370th Avenue when it drifted off the roadway. The car crashed into a bridge railing and rolled onto its top, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Clifford, who was alone in the car, was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene, the Sheriff’s Office said.
