Students, parents injured in accident near Atlanta Georgia

Six people, including three high school students, were rushed to hospitals this morning after a Newton County School bus and two cars were involved in an accident around 7:30 a.m. in front of Oak Hill Elementary on Ga. Highway 212.The accident occurred in front of Oak Hill Elementary school when a woman leaving the school reportedly pulled out in front of an Alcovy High School bus, causing the three-vehicle accident.Three Alcovy High students were transported to the hospital, as were a child and parent also involved in the accident. The parent and child were in a separate car.

Most of the students and parents were transported to Newton Medical Center, according to hospital spokeswoman Linda Moseley, who said she didn't believe the injuries were serious. However, the driver of the car that pulled in front of the bus was ejected from her vehicle and was taken to Atlanta Medical Center. She is currently in critical condition.According to Dennis Carpenter, Newton County School System Deputy Superintendent of Operations, the bus was headed south when the vehicle pulled out of the elementary school and directly in front of the bus.According to Georgia State Patrol spokesman Gordy Wright, "A vehicle pulled from Oak Hill Elementary into the path of the bus and was hit by the bus. The bus then hit a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction. A pickup truck then rear-ended the third vehicle. Three children on the bus are being checked. Two people in the vehicle from the opposite direction hit by the bus were injured. The driver of the vehicle that pulled out in front of the bus was ejected and transported for treatment."
