Kalamazoo, MI : Driver flees, then crashes vehicle on Tuesday, 14th August 2018

A Grand Rapids man was airlifted to Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo late Tuesday after crashing his vehicle into a tree while fleeing from police.
St. Joseph County Sheriff’s deputies attempted to stop Nicholas William Spoors, 28, on Michigan Avenue near Hutchinson Road in Park Township due to excessive speed, just after 11 p.m. Police pursued the vehicle through backroads, with speeds reaching more than 100 mph, until the vehicle struck a tree on Colon Road near Bennett Road in Colon Township.
Rescue personnel worked for about 30 minutes to extricate Spoors from the vehicle.
Deputies say they believe alcohol was a factor.
