New Hampshire State Police said a loose mattress is the cause of an accident that backed up traffic for a while on a highway.
Police said an SUV heading west on Route 101 in Candia on Thursday lost a mattress that had been secured to the vehicle. Moments later, a motorcyclist struck the mattress in the road and crashed. The motorcyclist, 55-year-old Lorena Case of Bow was taken to the hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
The driver of the SUV, 60-year-old Karen Paulson of Merrimack, was initially unaware that the mattress fell off her vehicle, but reported the incident a short time later.
