MANATEE COUNTY, FL : Bicyclist killed in Manatee County three-vehicle crash on Friday, 26th May 2023

A 55-year-old bicyclist was killed in a three-vehicle crash while trying to cross the road in Manatee County Friday morning.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), a bicyclist was crossing State Road 70, east of 11th Street Circle East. A pickup truck was headed east on State Road 70, approaching the same intersection as the bicyclist. Another vehicle was approaching the intersection from the westbound lanes of State Road 70.

At around 5:59 a.m., the bicyclist tried to cross the road as the truck approached the intersection. The truck crashed into the biker and a second vehicle approaching tried to avoid the collision but crashed into the bicyclist. A third vehicle crashed into the bicycle and continued westbound.

The crash remains under investigation by FHP.
