Colorado Springs, CO : 7-year-old boy walking with father on sidewalk dies after crash in Colorado Springs on Tuesday evening, July 9, 2014

Colorado Springs police say a 7-year-old boy walking on a sidewalk with his father died after a speeding car lost control and struck both of them.

Police Lt. Catherine Buckley says the crash happened Tuesday evening in southeast Colorado Springs. They boy, Isahaq Hameed, died at the scene. Buckley says the boy's father was in serious condition Wednesday.

The Colorado Springs Gazette reports that police suspect 21-year-old Xyrjah Bernice Goldston was responsible for the crash, and they have arrested her.

Buckley says investigators believe Goldston was speeding and lost control of her vehicle when she tried to overcorrect on a curve.
