Multiple Big Rigs Involved in 210 Freeway Crashes

Rain may have contributed to a series of collisions that closed down the transition lanes of the eastbound Foothill (210) Freeway in Pasadena early Thursday, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Three different collisions occurred overnight, one which involved multiple big rigs and closed the eastbound 210 two-lane tunnel connecter just after 11:30 p.m. Wednesday.

"Initially after the first truck jackknifed, another car carrier came through the collision scene and attempted to stop and hit a car that had stopped and was able to avoid the initial collision," CHP Sgt. Barry K. Jones said. "And then the two trucks behind me ran into each other trying to stop. They avoided the first collision but then had a collision of their own and overturned the trailer."
