Princeton, W.V : One injured in rear-end collision o U.S. Route 460 on Saturday afternoon, July 30, 2016
One woman was injured Saturday afternoon in a rear-end accident on U.S. Route 460 that sent her vehicle moving hundreds of feet beyond the spot where the impact of the crash took place.
Cpl. A.M. Ballard, with the Mercer County Sheriff's Department, said a blue, F250 truck, driven by Harlin Smith Jr., 74, of Yorktown, Va., rear-ended a Honda Pilot at the intersection of U.S. Route 460 and Locust Street around 12:03 p.m.
"He (Smith) was traveling back toward Virginia," Ballard said. "He fell asleep or passed out and drifted into the turn lane and hit the Honda Pilot at full speed."
The force of the crash sent the Honda careening down the shoulder of Route 460 where it came to rest at a highway sign marking the mileage to Oakvale and, Pearisburg, Va.
The driver of the Honda, Mary Aboulhosn, 71, of Princeton, was transported to Princeton Community Hospital for non life-threatening injuries, Ballard said.
"He (Smith) refused medical treatment," Ballard said.

"It was a pretty good crash," Ballard said. The Honda "was probably 200 feet from the intersection from the impact of the crash."
The airbags in the Honda deployed from the collision.
Ballard said Smith was issued a citation for failure to maintain control.
The West Virginia State Police, Princeton Rescue Squad and East River Fire Department also responded to the scene.
