One dead, five injured in three-car wreck in Jefferson County

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fatal accident on Chalkville Mountain Road in which one person died and five were injured.The Sheriff's Office issued a notification that just before 2 p.m. today its deputies responded to a three-vehicle traffic accident on Chalkville Mountain Road near Galloway Drive."The investigation revealed that a Ford Taurus was traveling west on Chalkville Mountain Road when it crossed the center line and collided with a GMC Sierra pickup truck. The truck then collided with an SUV," the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department said in a release. "The driver of the Taurus was pronounced dead on the scene. The driver and a child in the pickup truck suffered non-life threatening injuries and were transported to area hospitals. The driver and two children in the SUV also suffered non-life threatening injuries and were transported to area hospitals."Names of those involved are being withheld pending notification of family members, the Sheriff's Office said.
