PELZER, SC : Coroner identifies moped driver killed in Pelzer crash on Friday, December 9th 2016

The coroner is investigating a deadly crash that occurred in southern Greenville County Friday morning.

The Greenville County Coroner’s Office said one person was killed in a crash on Highway 418 at Slatton Shoals Road in Pelzer.

According to the SC Highway Patrol, the crash happened just after 8:30 a.m

The coroner's office said a moped was traveling on Slatton Shoals road when the bike crashed into the side of a tanker traveling on Highway 418. The moped rider was not wearing a helmet and died at the scene.

The coroner identified the victim as 54-year-old Tony Douglas Porter of Pelzer. He suffered multiple body trauma and his death was ruled an accident.

The driver of the tanker was uninjured.
