EL PASO COUNTY, CO : 1 killed in Falcon Highway crash involving semi on Monday, 24th August, 2020

A 62-year-old man was killed Monday afternoon after troopers say he veered into the wrong lane and collided with a semi-truck.

The victim was westbound on Falcon Highway in a Chevy pickup when he reportedly drove into the eastbound lane and crashed into the semi’s axel and fuel tank. The semi-truck caught fire, which then spread to grass on both sides of the roadway. The driver in the semi wasn’t injured.

Troopers say the Chevy did not catch fire and came to rest in the north shoulder after impact. The driver died at the scene.

At the time of this writing, the deceased driver has not been identified. State Patrol says they do not know why he drove into the wrong lane and are still investigating the cause of the crash.
