Monroe, LA : Girl dies in crash, driver booked with DWI on Tuesday night July 8th 2014
State police say impairment is suspected as a 4-year-old female pedestrian died in a single-vehicle crash in Ouachita Parish.
Trooper Albert Paxton says the wreck happened on U.S. Highway 165 south of Interstate 20 at 9:42 p.m. Tuesday.
Paxton says a SUV driven by 45-year-old Marvin Jones, of Monroe, was northbound when it struck the girl, who walked into the intersection at Ticheli Road.
Paxton says Jones was wearing his seat belt and did not report any injuries. The girl died at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe.
He says a toxicology sample was taken and submitted for analysis.
Jones was booked with driving while impaired and booked into Ouachita Correctional Center.
It was unclear whether he has an attorney.
