Howell, NJ : Two men killed when the car struck a tree and utility pole on Asbury Avenue on Saturday, March 26, 2016

Two men were killed when the car they were in struck a tree and utility pole.

Howell police say 25-year-old William Farrell III and 26-year-old Timothy Lippincott, both of Farmingdale, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The single-vehicle crash occurred around 2:30 a.m. Saturday on Asbury Avenue

Authorities say Farrell was driving when the car crossed over the center line and hit the tree before it struck the utility pole.

A stretch of the roadway was shut down for several hours as authorities investigated the accident scene.

The cause of the crash has not been determined.
