Orange County, FL : Driver of SUV sought after 2 killed in Pine Hills crash on Sunday evening, June 1, 2014
The search is on for a driver fleeing from police who caused a hit-and-run crash that killed two people near Pine Hills.
The crash occurred just after 7 p.m., at Pine Hills Road and Balboa Drive when troopers said the driver in a black SUV ran a red-light.
The SUV hit the driver's side of the car, causing extensive damage. The Florida Highway Patrol said one person in the car was dead at the scene, and the other person in the car died at a hospital.
"We rushed down there to see if we could help, but we didn't see her chest moving at all," said
The driver of the SUV fled on foot and is still being sought, officials said.
"The other lady was in really rough shape. As soon as he hit, he bailed and ran down this way," said
A passenger in the SUV was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center, and she told police she'd been picked up at a bus stop by the man and didn't know him.
Authorities have not released the names of the people involved.
