One person died and two were injured in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 2 in Itasca County on Monday.
The Minnesota State Patrol reported that Russell Locken, 57, died when the 2014 Volkswagen Jetta he was driving east near Warba, southeast of Grand Rapids, drifted into the westbound lanes and sideswiped a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado at about 1:30 p.m.
The Patrol did not provide a hometown for Locken.
Two passengers in the Jetta — identified by authorities as Myrna Locken, 33, of Warba and Calixro Locken, who is younger than 1 year old — suffered what the Patrol said were non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital in Grand Rapids.
The driver of the Silverado, 23-year-old Kevin Wiebe of Almena, Wis., was not injured.
Both vehicles were totaled, the Patrol reported. Road conditions were dry at the time of the crash.
