Palatka, FL : 12 students involves in Putnam County school bus crash on Tuesday evening, Nov 3, 2015
A Putnam County school bus ran into the back of a pickup truck as the truck waited to make a left turn, the Florida Highway Patrol reported Tuesday evening.
A dozen students ranging in age from 14 to 17 were on the bus during the 2:08 p.m. accident. One of them was taken to UF Health Shands Hospital with minor injuries. It was unclear if any of the other students on the bus were hurt.
The FHP news release said the accident happened at State Road 20's intersection with Lady Slipper Lake Road. Bus driver Sara Myrick, 80, of Interlachen was driving the bus with students from Interlachen and Hawthorne, when she ran into the back of a 1996 Dodge pickup driven by Robert Davis Sr., 61, of Interlachen, who was waiting to turn onto Lady Slipper Lake Road.
Three people from the pickup truck were also hurt and taken to UF Health Shands in Gainesville.
Myrick was cited for careless driving, troopers said.
