Port Charlotte, FL : Eight people injured after 3-car crash in Port Charlotte on Saturday night, October 8, 2016
Eight people were hospitalized after a three-car crash in Port Charlotte late Saturday night.
It happened in the northbound lanes of US-41 at the intersection of Easy Street.
Florida Highway Patrol says that two cars with two passengers each were sitting in line in the center northbound lane at a red light. Deputies say that's when a third car with four passengers didn't stop, came from behind, and slammed into the line of two cars. This led to that car hitting the one in front of it.
Five individuals were taken to Lee Memorial Hospital for serious injuries along with one facing critical injuries. Two others went to Fawcett Memorial Hospital for minor injuries, says FHP.
None of the four passengers in the car that didn't stop had their seatbelts on, according to the report.
